Robert Crawford has significant experience in intellectual property (IP) procurement, patent-portfolio management, and IP litigation. He has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications primarily in the areas of electronics, telecommunications, microcomputer programming and architecture, radio frequency circuitry, mixed-signal processing, circuit fabrication, and a variety of cross-disciplinary technologies such as optics and nanotechnologies. He is also an inventor on several U.S. patents. Bob further assists clients in the procurement of trademarks and with other aspects of trademark law.

Bob’s litigation experience includes a mix of bench and jury trials. He has successfully represented clients across a broad spectrum of areas including patent litigation, trademark litigation, multi-district IP infringement litigation, and disputes concerning IP ownership. Bob's experience in both IP litigation and procurement provides a balanced perspective for many client needs.

Bob founded our firm in 1998 and serves as its Chief Manager. Prior to launching the Firm, he was an officer with a large Intellectual Property firm in the Twin Cities. With roots in the Chicago area, he was previously with Arnold, White & Durkee (now Howrey Simon), and Motorola's Intellectual Property Law Department.

Bob received a B.S.E.E. from University of Illinois (Urbana), an M.S.E.E. from IIT (Chicago), a J.D. from DePaul College of Law (Chicago), and has several years of engineering experience with Motorola where he engineered and managed engineers in projects involving cellular communications, mixed-signal communications, and all aspects of computer engineering including hardware designs and writing code in a variety of software and firmware languages. He is also an inventor on about a dozen U.S. patents.

Bob has taught patent litigation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota and served on a number of professional and nonprofit corporate boards, such as his involvement with Harbor Charities International of Minnesota. Bob is profiled in a number of biographical publications including Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals. Bob is licensed to practice in several courts at both the state and federal level, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
